Westfield // Kid’s Platform 

PROJECT/

Westfield is one of the largest shopping mall developers in the world.  When we joined this project, Westfield had already hired another firm to identify opportunities to strengthen Westfield’s connection to families.  But they weren’t able to convert those opportunities into design concepts.

Thing Tank worked with that firm and Westfield stakeholders to ideate and delver whole range of concepts.  Then we created rich experience prototypes through a series of storyboards outlining what the family friendly mall experience of tomorrow could be like.  How could we create wins for parents and kids at the same time?  What if everyone in the family was looking forward to a trip to the mall?  Could we make it feel like a gift, and not just a promotion?

RESULT/

It took a while, but many of the family friendly amenity and activity concepts we developed back in 2006 finally saw the light of day in 2012, with the Westfield Family program.  These include membership, family parking, facilitated play events, play spaces specific to kids of different ages, kid friendly dining areas, family lounges and shopping play
