e2e // Contract Suite
PROJECT/
e2e was a start up that had developed an amazing sustainable material. It’s a non toxic mixture of soy flour and plant fibers that has a small environmental footprint and a really unique look and feel. Best of all, it’s moldable. It has the warmth of a wood product with the formability of plastic. Renewable, low carbon footprint, no hazardous chemicals, it’s a genuinely sustainable material in a sea of green washing.
New materials and processes have always driven new forms. In collaboration with our friends at Pfeifferlab, Thing Tank developed a suite of contract furniture for e2e that expresses the distinctive properties of the material with a unique design language. The hexagonal emboss on the back side of the desktop and whiteboard provides the stiffness of a much thicker panel while achieving that holly grail of furniture design, a thin edge. And our acoustic screens are a modular way to address the thrum and echo of open plan office spaces.
RESULT/
e2e won best of Neocon 2012 for materials and surfaces, as well a a Neocon Innovation Award.
