About Thing Tank

Chris Luomanen

Thing Tank was founded in 2005 by Chris Luomanen. Before that, Chris was a product designer, project manager, user researcher, prototype fabricator and workshop designer at IDEO. Chris has a master’s degree in product design from Stanford University. And he has taught design at Stanford and the California College of the Arts.

Thing Tank maintains a network of creative professional, so we can staff and manage your project with the right mix of talent to meet your individual needs. But, more often than not, we team up with internal teams to leverage the talent and expertise clients already have in house.

Our design thinking approach has allowed us to work in a wide range of industries including consumer electronics, financial services, furniture, vehicle automation, retail environments, social media, architectural hardware, education and food service.

Think Tank has worked with big companies like Facebook, Steelcase, Plantronics, Logitech, Jawbone, Chick-fil-A and Westfield.

We’ve helped lots of start ups like Peloton Technologies, Long Term Stock Exchange, Molekule, Ono Foods and Nuko Toys.
